20 marching bands

!BONANZA!  Shangri-La is known for their copious throws.  Look for signature stuffed dragons, cups, frisbees, bikinis, imprinted Oriental beads, bean bag frogs, koozies and BIG beads.
Each year, the Mystick Krewe of Shangri-La makes a generous scholarship donation to the
St. Michael's School for Special Children.
One of the few krewes to take its inspiration from a modern literary source, the once all-female krewe was named for the mystic locale in James Hilton's 1933 novel Lost Horizon, and shares its name with the 1956 Broadway musical.  Originally, Shangri-La was one of the highlights of the St. Bernard parade season before joining the Orleans parish season in 2000.  They now follow the Traditional Uptown Route.
Sponsorship for the parade is provided by Kaly Nicta, Inc.
This krewe allows children to ride or is committed to children's causes. This krewe shares a committment to children's causes with the krewes of Aladdin, Centurions, Choctaw, Grela, Jason, Little Rascals, Mid-City, Muses, Sparta, and Thoth.
