Napoleon
Bonaparte, Emperor of France, sold the Louisiana Territory to the
United States, establishing American occupation of the city and
providing this Metairie krewe with a treasure trove of
inspiration. Well-noted for the exceptional quality of their
parades, the procession is led by the Captaine de Corps , and features horse-drawn carriages for the maids, and horse-drawn floats of the emperor, empress, and captain.
The court is traditionally attired in some of the most stunning
costumes of the season. In addition to the crowd-favorite the
Confetti Cannon, the Corps also hosts a band constest, awarding the
winner $1,000.
