TRUCK FLOATS: The Krewe of Jefferson
 (Jefferson Parish, following Elks-Jeffersonians)

The Krewe of Jefferson
Krewe organized in 1972.
3,500+ male and female riders
75+ truck floats
Captain, no royalty chosen
The only truly collectible krewe in the truck float category, look for krewe-emblem cups, medallion beads, and the Captain's 15-gauge gold anodized doubloons.
The krewe's motto
"fortis unitas nobis" translates to
"fortunes unite us"!
The last truck parade in Jefferson Parish follows the Krewe of Elks-Jeffersonians, and signals the official "beginning of the end" of Carnival.  From the time the last truck passes, the day begins to prepare for the inevitable unmasking at sunset and the meeting of the courts.
The krewe has no set rules for themes, and will often honor individual celebrities as much as local favorites.  They are unique in that so many of its members generate a diverse selection of throws specific to the krewe itself.
