Bearing the name of the mythical Greek who was so strong the gods placed the world upon his shoulders, this krewe has always led the way for the Metairie parading organizations, its own parade route now serving as the standard route for more than a dozen other krewes.  Atlas is also unique in its governing body, a 10-member board and the krewe captain oversee all operations.  One of the highlights of their parades are the highly-ornate crests on the floats, imported from Blaine Kern Artists in Spain!

This krewe shares a Greek theme with the krewes of Adonis, Aphrodite, Argus,  Atlas,  Endymion, Hermes,  Iris,  Jason,  Morpheus,  Muses, Okeanos,  Orpheus,  Pegasus, Proteus,  Morpheus, Nemesis,  Pygmalion,  Rhea,  Sparta and  Zeus.
