The Krewe of Alla (Jefferson Parish, Westbank)
|
Krewe
organized in 1932
450+
male riders
28 floats
25 marching bands
Old line-style parade |
| Maharajah,
Maharanee |
Look
for krewe-emblem cups, medallion necklaces, plastic goblets, ElkGator
plush dolls, and doubloons from the Maharajah (red) and the Maharanee
(blue), but the real collectibles are the bobblehead float dolls-very,
very rare!
|
The krewe's name is an abbreviation of
ALgiers, LouisianA. |
|
Originally
organized by the Westside Social and Carnival Club, the all-male krewe
of Alla now rolls under the auspices of the Golden Gryphon Club formed
in 1978.
This krewe is one of the largest of the Westbank krewes, and features a
strong equestrian showing, a plethora of marching bands and drill units
from the metropolitan area and from across the state.
